It has been an incredible journey for us during these 30 months when a small internal tool has become an independent Jira application. Today, on , Magic Estimations for Jira ends its free path and switches to the paid model, while keeping the free access for the next ~3 months.
First of all, we need to explain why we have to enable monetization:
Our infrastructure bills are steadily increasing with product growth. Currently, we see more than 10k monthly active users with more than 100 active instances daily, and this is when it becomes hard to finance the project from our own pockets.
We’re getting more feedback and request with potential improvements (thank you for that!). We hope that the monetization will allow us to focus on swiftly delivering shiny new features to Magic Estimations instead of spending after-work hours.
Still, we’ll try to keep the Free version of the app available to as many users as possible with a lower-than-market price for everyone else.
Secondly, let’s talk about available free plans. Here are the ways you can use the app for free:
All the Jira Cloud instances with 10 or fewer users can use the full version of the app for free.
Older versions of Magic Estimations can be used for free untill
A free Magic Estimations Lite version is planned to be released in April 2023 to support small teams in big organizations. You can find more details below.
